Don’t stop believing – Concept Hotel Group

Words Kristie Rogers

The evolution of Diego Calvo’s hospitality and lifestyle brand has seen it grow into a full-scale creative universe.

It’s been an amazing summer for Concept Hotel Group – one that’s not over yet – as the hospitality and lifestyle empire founded by island entrepreneur, Diego Calvo, continues to evolve and expand. The 2026 season has seen its flagship property, Hotel Mongibello, upgraded to five-star status; the fashion hotel, Los Felices, launch a brand-new nightlife concept with Nocturna Ibiza; and the Vegas-inspired Romeo’s Motel & Diner team up with hip Valencia burger joint, The Fitzgerald. Beyond its bricks and mortar properties, the company has also grown its CanaCana Shop offerings; collaborated with Mini Open Tennis and hosted a handful of exciting music festivals. And the future’s looking even brighter with the glamorous new Acapulco Amor project slated for completion in 2028.

It was always Calvo’s intention to create brands that are far beyond typical. From day one, he and the Concept Hotel Group team have proven that a hotel is more than a place to sleep; rather, it’s a place to dream, enjoy life and create long-lasting memories. Every property boasts its own unique character, built around a core theme, and incorporates design, music, culture and experiences. Take Hotel Mongibello – the group’s first-ever scalable concept – for example. On the glistening shores of Siesta on Ibiza’s east coast, there is a world within a world, channelling the aesthetic of 1960s Amalfi Coast and the timeless la dolce vita spirit, and fusing them with the essence of Ibiza from the 1970s.

Just three short years after Hotel Mongibello first opened its doors, the stunning property has been officially elevated to the category of five-star hotels, joining the ranks of the island’s most luxurious resorts. Now, in addition to its 32 customised suites inspired by island artists and personalities (think Tony Pike, Charo Ruiz and Antonio Escohotado), 167 divinely decorated rooms, stylish eatery Sorella Ristorante, regular events (including open-air cinema, lively bingo, four-hand dinners and more) and speakeasy-style nightspot Lola’s, the hotel boasts 24-hour room service, valet parking and a nightly turndown service, plus even more attention to detail to ensure every guest’s experience is as quietly luxurious as it is pleasurable.

Music and nightlife remain deeply embedded within the identity of Concept Hotel Group, and Nocturna – a stylish 380-capacity venue beneath Los Felices launched in collaboration with UK-based company Tokyo Industries in 2026 – is the latest feather in the brand’s after-dark cap. Designed with true music aficionados in mind, the boutique nightclub is all about high-fidelity experiences in an intimate location, focused around four pillars: sound, service, design and community. Open from Wednesday to Sunday, this new (and blissfully phone-free) approach to nightlife brings a boost to the Cala de Bou area via a string of carefully curated successful summer residencies and one-off parties.

Dancing to different genres of music in the open air is one of the greatest things about the Ibiza cultural scene, and with this in mind, the Concept Hotel Group social calendar also includes a handful of festivals that bring together islanders, residents and visitors. This season has seen the group host the third edition of its ever-popular Rock Nights Festival, along with regular Dorado Live Shows (now in its 11th year!) and the first ever Cranc Festival (a new collab with the famed Mallorca event), with the sixth edition of Sonorama Ibiza, at Venice Bayand Caló de S’Oli Auditorium, on October 02 and 03 still to come.

Never ones to sit still (in this case, quite literally), Concept Hotel Group is once again a partner of the popular Mini Open Tennis in Ibiza. This season’s event takes place over two days on October 09 and 10 at Club de Campo – a place that holds a special place in Calvo’s heart after growing up nearby and playing tennis there throughout the late 80s and into the 90s. Now, decades later, he’s fallen in love with the sport all over again, and the partnership with this intimate and fun tournament designed for people who like sport, love to have a good time and embrace culture and style makes sense. Relaxed but still competitive, social without feeling like a traditional networking event and with just the right amount of gastronomy, fashion and culture thrown in, it really is the perfect match (yes, the pun is indeed intended!).

And there’s plenty more to talk about. Along with ongoing pop-ups and activations with global and Spanish fashion labels, cool collabs on merchandise, a bevy of beautiful events for international brands, there’s also the cool new culinary collaboration at Romeo’s Motel & Diner that’s been on everyone’s lips (again, quite literally). Valencia-based burger joint, The Fitzgerald – one of the hottest burger brands in all of Spain – has jumped onboard with Concept Hotel Group to bring its mouthwateringly good flame-grilled flavours to the island, via the classic American-style diner at Romeo’s and a food truck appearing at selected events (keep your eyes peeled for it at Mini Open Tennis!).

For those who dream of taking a little slice of Concept Hotel Group home with them, CanaCana Shop is a lifestyle brand that can be accessed before you check in, after you check out, or even during your stay. What began life as a collection of hotel-inspired inflatables designed with Eloh Barcelona quickly grew into a more tangible collection of furniture – including gorgeous 1960s-inspired outdoor armchairs – plus objets, décor, soft furnishings and cool, collectible merch created with Barcelona-based studio Socis Club. Think magnets, keychains, bucket hats, scarves and tote bags – not your average Ibiza souvenirs! Guests can also snap up the same toilet paper and amenities found in the rooms, Weirdstock bed linen, tableware by Ibiza-based artist Miranda Makaroff, ashtrays-slash-art-pieces designed by London brand Rolling & The Stoned and more.

Before delving into total world domination, the next stage in Concept Hotel Group’s growth comes in the form of a new hotel set to open in 2028: Acapulco Amor. Another testament to the team’s creative vision, this latest journey into storytelling is inspired by the golden era of the legendary Mexican destination of the same name. Acapulco in the 1970s was all about relaxed glamour, vibrant colours and just the right amount of hedonism, attracting the who’s who of the jetset, loved by Hollywood and regularly featured on popular television programs at the time. Here in Ibiza, on the shores of Cala de Bou, the key elements of this once-iconic destination will be reinterpreted through a modern lens in the brand’s signature approach.

What started with The Concept Hotels – Tropicana, Dorado, Cubanito, Paradiso, Romeo’s Motel & Diner and Grand Paradiso (each iconic in its own right) – has, over the years, grown into an entire universe, encompassing Los Felices: The Fashion Hotel and Nocturna, the incredible five-star Hotel Mongibello, plus lifestyle brand CanaCana. Wrapping up 2026 and going into 2027 and even 2028, the evolution continues, spurred on by the passion and dedication of Calvo and his team, who never lose sight of where the brand began. Creating hotels with soul, telling stories, making memories, building community, and above all, enjoying life – when it comes to Concept Hotel Groupdon’t stop believing!
