MIRA Lounge

A laid-back and stylish late-night lounge bar and restaurant hidden away in the unassuming side of streets of San Miguel, Mira Lounge is run with fun, flair and fabulousness by hospitality expert Stevie Benanty.

Address

Carrer Vicent Serra, 4, 07815 Sant Miquel de Balansat, Illes Baleares

Why we love it

There's an underlying feeling that anything could happen behind those high walls and that pink velvet rope – and quite frequently, does!

At a glance

A pretty-in-pink lounge bar that's stylish on the outside and naughty on the inside.

Editor's tip

Keep your eyes peeled for the bi-weekly Dumpling and Mahjong nights, when Mira Lounge is turned into little Hong Kong for the night. There's nothing quite like it on the island!

The quaint northern village of San Miguel in Ibiza may appear sleepy, but beyond its pretty scenery and laid-back vibes, there’s a new wave of gentrification breathing new life into this historic area. Pioneering the change is Stevie Benanty, the New York-born, Ibiza-based hospitality expert, who brings fun, flair and fabulousness to the area with her latest nightlife venture, Mira Lounge – a stylish bar and restaurant where residents, music lovers, gourmands and holidaymakers come together over global cuisine, artisanal cocktails and authentic island vibes.

Adjacent to the renowned art gallery, Gathering, Mira Lounge is barely visible from the street. The Ibiza restaurant‘s discreet design is intentional – think edgy NY-style speakeasies and cult London member lounges – so guests can channel that old-school Ibiza sense of freedom from the minute they step beyond the pink velvet rope. Once inside, what happens in Mira, stays in Mira!

Teaming up with food and beverage director Tiago Borges (her partner in culinary crime at Santa Gertrudis restaurant, Stevie Alla Bottega) and head bar manager Fernando Leo Navarro, Benanty’s vision for Mira Lounge fuses forward-thinking menus with expert crowd curation. The door policy is simple. From Thursday to Sunday, reservations and walk-ins are accepted between 7pm and 10pm – afterwards, entry is on a guestlist basis, which means it’s all about making friends with the Mira team (who are, indeed, very friendly by nature), being referred by a friend or the good, old-fashioned method of talking your way in. There are no egos or attitudes here – rather, an eclectic and clued-up crowd who represent the best of Ibiza.

Inside, the design favours a pretty-in-pink palette – from dusky sheepskin throws and pastel soft furnishings to bubblegum-hued tables and the Ibiza restaurant‘s signature candy-coloured bar illuminated by ropes of cheeky breast-shaped pendant lights. Low-slung lounge chairs encourage long conversations; warm and welcoming service means your next drink – whether it’s a bespoke or classic cocktail, or a glass of natural wine – is always close to hand. Music is curated with the same attention to detail at Mira Lounge, with unique playlists, live acts and on Sundays, the island’s best underground DJs spinning vinyl-only sofa sessions.

Borges has created a menu unlike anything else the island. Mouth-wateringly good small plates designed to be savoured – whether as one huge feast, or just plate after plate over the course of the night. Fusing street food trends with cutting-edge culinary techniques, dishes include crispy chicken karaage with kimchi mayo; silky scallop crudo with lemongrass foam and lime pickles; charcoal-sautéed seasonal veggies and quite possibly the best burger on the island – inspired by the Vietnamese bahn mi. There’s even a whole roasted suckling pig for large groups (available via pre-order only). The famous Shanny’s Dumplings are also on the menu and bi-weekly Thursday nights see Shanny and Stevie co-host Dumpling + Mahjong nights, as they transform Mira Lounge into Little Hong Kong.

With the kitchen open late, it’s the perfect place for a pre-party fuel-up, an after-work catch-up or a date night with a difference. And while Mira Lounge may appear to be an after-dark project, by day, the sleek and shiny kitchen still bustles as chefs lovingly prep the all-new the Mira by Day catering concept. Designed for discerning travellers, busy residents and those who simply love good food, it’s all about stocking island fridges with high-quality, nourishing home-cooked meals and snacks so there’s never any stress around mealtimes – whether you’re at home, on the beach, on a boat, in a villa, by the pool, Stevie and her team have got you covered.
