4FU3GOS
4FU3GOS is the chic beachside chiringuito at Nômade Temple Ibiza, where open-fire cooking and seasonal ingredients bring people together.
Perched above a pristine and secluded cove in Portinatx, 4FU3GOS is the latest addition to the burgeoning gourmet scene on the island’s wild northern coastline. Part of the spectacular Nômade Temple Ibiza, the laid-back Ibiza beach restaurant is open to hotel guests and curious visitors alike, the smoky aromas coming from its grill tempting diners down to the seafront for long, languid lunches beneath the Balearic sky.
Sandy-floored terraces are cut into the hillside and gently step down toward the water, adorned with thatched shading, rattan seating, terracotta and cobalt-hued cushions and rustic wooden tables that catch the briny sea breeze from the beach below. Lunch at 4FU3GOS is all about community and the Ibiza beach restaurant’s menu has been designed to be shared and savoured among friends, family and loved ones. Long communal tables by the open grill are perfect for group celebrations – or making new connections – while smaller tables and a chilled lounge area tucked closer to the rocks offer an unrivalled over the crystal blue water and the pine-covered cliffs beyond.
The kitchen at this Ibiza beach restaurant works entirely around fire, with a menu built on local, seasonal produce, fresh fish and seafood, and the finest cuts of meat. The 4FU3GOS menu is beautiful in its simplicity: wood-fired fish, juicy, slow-cooked meats, charred vegetables and flame-kissed sides, plus summer-fresh salads. Start with light dishes such as cockles with lemon; a round of oysters for the table; red prawn with creamy aguachile; and tuna tartare with patacones (fried plantains). Order salads to share – choose between baby spinach with charred orange, avocado and pomegranate with passionfruit vinaigrette or local tomatoes with pickles and lettuce.
For the main event, all focus turns to the flames sizzling up from the grill – an array of market-fresh catch of the day and shellfish are charred to order, along with the Ibiza beach restaurant’s succulent beef tenderloin and hearty dry-aged rib-eye, served with sides like roasted sweet potato, crisp living lettuce or classic French fries. Each plate coming out of the 4FU3GOS kitchen is imbued with the warmth, depth and emotion of cooking over fire – as ancient as man.
The mood at 4FU3GOS is gloriously carefree, as a carefully curated soundtrack floats across the airwaves along with the sounds of conversation and laughter. In between courses, head to the sandy cala below for cooling dips and later, post-feast siestas, with only the gentle lapping of the water to disrupt the quiet. This new, daytime chapter in Nômade Temple Ibiza’s coastal culinary offering serves up its signature wood-fired morsels from 1pm until 5pm daily, while the beach bar remains open until 9pm. As the sun goes down and the salty sea breeze picks up on the terrace, it’s always worth remembering that life is always better with a little fuego.
