ABOUT THE NORTH
Ibiza’s northern region is celebrated for its bohemian vibe and untouched landscapes, from the countryside to the beaches and beyond. Known as a haven for wellness and healing, the area offers countless ways to rejuvenate the mind, body, and soul.
WHEN TO VISIT
Sun worshippers will be drawn to the north in summer, chasing the early morning rays on its rugged, beautiful beaches. In winter, it becomes a blissfully deserted haven, with the sun still blazing down, perfect for secret picnic spots, wild horse-riding trails, and adrenaline-pumping hikes.
MUST-SEE
The once-secret caves of C’an Marça, formerly used by pirates to stash their loot, are a must-visit. Filled with stalagmites and stalactites, these caves stay refreshingly cool even in summer. Inside, you’ll find a replica waterfall and can join guided tours running throughout the day, all year round. At the cave entrance, you can peer through binoculars at Tagomago, a tiny private island just across the water.
MUST-DO
Pay your respects to the island’s loved-up history on Benirrás beach when a crowd of loose-limbed, dreadlocked peaceniks descend with drums to help call in the sunset. Peruse the stalls at San Juan’s delightful Sunday market and take one of the many hiking paths through pristine forests to dip into the crystal-clear waters of secret coves.
WHO YOU’LL MEET
A vibrant mix of characters gravitates to the north, from young, edgy neo-bohemians ditching city life and the corporate grind to quirky old-timers, ex-hippies, and the original bohemians who never looked back.
