Sitting on a five-hectare estate in Santa Inés, Es Cucons exudes a romance steeped in history. The collection of dwellings that make up the property were originally built in 1652 and as the largest estate in the valley, the estate was once a focal point of village life, providing work, produce and a place to celebrate baptisms, weddings and local festivities. In 1997, sisters María and Bárbara Rodríguez, along with their partners Jaime and Pasi, bought the property and spent three full years lovingly restoring it to its former glory. Today, Es Cucons is one of the most established, not to mention beautiful, country hotels on the island.

With a pine-covered mountain gently rising behind and the valley stretching out in front, arriving at Es Cucons is like stepping into a storybook. An ancient grand arch reaches across the entrance hall of the main finca, where you’ll find the reception desk, a comfy lounge and a petite boutique brimming with trinkets and gifts. The Ibiza country hotel features 15 luxuriously designed rooms and suites, each blending rustic character with modern comforts, while outside, guests find secluded patios, a vast canopied yoga deck and a sparkling pool surrounded by luxe daybeds and fragrant fig trees.

Good food lies at the heart of Es Cucons and the hotel’s restaurant is open to guests and visitors alike – even for breakfast by reservation. For lunch and dinner, delicious Mediterranean dishes are prepared with organic seasonal produce, plucked straight from the Ibiza country hotel’s gardens or sourced from trusted island suppliers. Days start with a generous breakfast buffet, complete with local eggs cooked any way you like them. Lunch follows, enjoyed alfresco under dappled sunshine, and dinner is served by candlelight on a pretty terrace overlooking the property. Dining here reflects the locale’s agrarian roots and its cosmopolitan present, with a philosophy centred on simplicity, nourishment and flavour.

Guests of Es Cucons can retreat to one of three treatment cabins for bespoke massages, unwind in the sauna and cold plunge pool, or join a yoga class on the deck overlooking the countryside. For those seeking something more active, there’s pétanque and table tennis, while nearby trails lead to mountaintop viewpoints, hidden coves and the legendary Las Puertas del Cielo (The Gates of Heaven), one of the island’s most breathtaking panoramas. As part of its commitment to community and creativity, the Ibiza country hotel also hosts yoga retreats, live music evenings, artisanal wine tastings and an epic Halloween party with a traditional castañada each autumn, when chestnuts are roasted and shared with sweet treats and wine beneath the stars.

The owners of Es Cucons have carefully preserved the estate’s historic soul, ensuring the past remains alive in its architecture and atmosphere, while infusing it with warmth, hospitality and contemporary style. Some come to stay and never leave the grounds, while others use the gorgeous Ibiza country hotel as a base for island exploration. Either way, guests leave with memories tinged with the perfume of pine and a sense of having experienced the real Ibiza.
