The Michelin-trained chef and founder of Ibiza catering company Bohemian Bespoke Food & Events has dedicated his entire career to the pursuit of gastromic excellence, a passion that extends beyond recipes, techniques and ingredients, and into tailor-made event planning in Ibiza.
Matteo been inspired by food and experiences shared around meals. Cherished times spent in his family’s kitchen in the south of Italy paved the way for him to explore the world in search of further culinary inspiration as a chef. Crossing continents and cultures alike, he learned from some of the industry’s most revered names, honing his skills at restaurants including London’s Ikoyi, CORE by Clare Smyth, Quay Restaurant Sydney and under the patronage of Isaac McHale at The Clove Club. Eventually, the desire to helm his own kitchen came calling, and in 2010, Matteo moved to Ibiza and began formulating the blueprint for Bohemian Bespoke Food & Events.
Drawing on Matteo’s Italian heritage and melding it with the authentic spirit of Ibiza, the talented Bohemian Bespoke Food & Events team are experts at tapping into their clients’ unique tastes, personalities and desires. No two Bohemian Bespoke Food & Events menus are ever alike, but to get your tastebuds tingling, imagine trays of Mediterranean-influenced canapés like oysters with mezcal, or delectable black pork and carob. Using local and seasonal produce is a high priority for the Ibiza wedding catering team, with ingredients sourced from the mainland or further afield only when necessary. Starters could include tiradito with yuzu dressing and granita; beef tartare with smoked blueberries and quail eggs, or jamón Iberico with melon, pressed cucumber and wasabi – a twist on a local classic. Plant-based, kosher, gluten-free, pescatarian, halal – whatever your appetite requirements, menus can be adapted to suit, so no one is left out of the fantasic feasting.
The Bohemian Bespoke Food & Events main course options can include light summer plates like cod with mushroom sauce and cauliflower purée, or chicken in Jollof sauce with sweet chillies and pickled gherkins. Heartier options include Black Galician rib-eye steak with mushroom cream, confit shimeji, blackened onions and truffle; slow-cooked leg of lamb; or Valencian paella with rabbit or chicken, or classic seafood – better than you’ll ever find on a beach. Pastas – handmade, just like nonna used to make – risottos, and other Italian staples are given an elevated twist by the clever Ibiza catering team, along with sweet treats like modern Ibiza flaó cheesecake with charred oranges and hierbas jelly, or lemon curd tartlets with raspberry coulis and ice cream.
