‘Tis the season to be jolly and in the heart of Ibiza town, there’s no place jollier or more joyful than Café Montesol right now. The gorgeous ground-floor restaurant of the iconic Experimental Montesol has decked its halls in festive finery, thanks to a whimsical holiday makeover at the hands of the famous former concept store-turned creative studio, Sluiz. Whether you’re popping in for breakfast or a boozy brunch, if you’re passing by in-between bouts of retail therapy for some snacks or dinner and drinks, if you’re spontaneously getting into the spirit (literally) for Christmas cocktails or if you’re gathering your loved ones for some festive feasting, Café Montesol is a holiday hub where everyone’s invited.

It’s hard not to be dazzled by the hotel’s stunning façade: the balconies are strung with thousands of glittering strings of fairy-lights, while a row of classic, natural Nordmann fir trees decked in red ribbon and bows line the exterior walls of Café Montesol on Vara de Rey. It’s like a scene out of a holiday romance movie – one that gets even better once you’ve stepped inside its cosy interior. Inside, the twinkle of lights and the sparkle of tinsel instantly draw your attention to the multiple Christmas trees, the garlands hung all around the bar, and the festive installations throughout the space. The restaurant’s new look has been dubbed ‘Tipsy Christmas’ by Sluiz, and when you look a little closer, it’s easy to see why…

Is that a slender, golden-gloved hand holding a glass of Champagne extending from the Christmas tree? Why, indeed, yes, it is – and there’s another, and yet another, alongside a red-stocking-clad, platform-heel wearing leg! In typical Sluiz style, Christmas at Café Montesol has been turned on its head and these are anything but traditional decorations. A wall of red velvet, oversized bows, sun and moon details that complement the restaurant’s interior design, metallic baubles, upside-down champagne glasses filled with bubbles, festive bottles hidden among green garlands and so much more – it’s a true feast for the senses and that’s before you’ve even looked at the menus.

Once you’ve picked your jaw up from the floor, quite possibly taken a selfie or two among the décor and have finally found your way to a cosy table, it’s time to peruse the culinary creations on offer and let the feasting truly begin. In keeping with the Tipsy Christmas vibe, there’s a Winter Cocktail Club menu featuring four of Santa’s favourite tipples, available daily until January 06, 2026, when Ibiza celebrates Kings Day. It would be remiss not to try the Tipsy Christmas itself – a winter-warming blend of mezcal, dry curaçao, velvet falernum, sweet date syrup, lime and bitters – or to get a pick-me-up in the form of Santa Cazcabel, made with bourbon whiskey, coffee liqueur, amaro palo and gingerbread syrup. Rum-infused hot chocolate topped with whipped cream, an eggnog-inspired brandy concoction – anyone who tries all four might end up on Santa’s ‘naughty’ list, that’s for sure.

Of course, there’s plenty of fabulous food to soak up all that booze, whether that’s decadent eggs benedict with crispy bacon on brioche; a plump bagel topped with trout gravlax, labneh, avocado and rocket; French toast with Chantilly and cinnamon; or homemade crepes with chocolate for brekkie or brunch, served from 8am until 4pm. (Sidenote: there are healthy options also available!) During the in-between mealtimes, the Pica Pica menu is brimming with tasty bites to share, like hand-cut jamón ibérico; Gochujang-glazed Angus ribs; everyone’s favourite jamón York and cheese bikini (toastie); plus sweet treats like chocolate coolant with vanilla ice cream or cheesecake with Hierbas reduction.

As an extra festive treat, Robert – Ibiza’s beloved Oyster Man – is also on hand from 1pm until 9pm daily until January 06, 2026, shucking Oysters Noblesse No3 to order, or juicy red prawns with mayo – perfect to pair with an ice-cold vino blanco or copa de cava and toast to the holidays.

Once the sun goes down, the Café Montesol evening menu comes into play, and whether you’re looking for some light, tapas-style bites – like the famous Montesol patatas bravas, the Andalusian-style squid with lime aioli, a local cheeseboard or Cantabrian anchovies on toasted brioche – or a heartier meal fresh off the Robata grill, there’s something for all appetites. Think global flair and local flavours, like chicken anticucho with jalapeño emulsion; tagliolini with sobrasada (local sweet sausage), orange and Mahón cheese; sweet potato salad with miso, feta, almonds and figs; and so much more. By the end of it, you may just need to roll home!

In addition to its regular menus, Café Montesol also hosts regular gastronomic pop-ups – all the more reason to return! First up, the (not-quite) larger-than-Santa Charles Vexenat from the island’s legendary Ibiza venue, Bar 1805, pops up with his special moules-frites menu just two more times throughout the holidays: on Boxing Day, December 26, 2025. With non-stop service from 1pm until 11pm, the big steaming bowls of mussels are served up with your choice of sauce, salty golden fries, a cocktail (for just 18.05€) and just the right amount of French flair and are the perfect antidote to overdone Christmas leftovers.

Then, Ibiza’s most beloved pizzeria-turned-catering company, Imprevisto, pops back to Café Montesol for a pizza night on December 27, 2025, serving up their award-winning gourmet pizzas from 7pm until 10.30pm. Think classic Margarita; the decadent Tartufa with truffle cream, mozzarella fior di latte, gorgonzola, burrata, rocket, 24-month aged parmigiano  Reggiano and black truffle balsamic oil; or the more-ish Mortadella, with pistachio cream, fried pistachios and buffalo mozzarella – and there are so many more! Baby it’s cold outside in Ibiza this winter… but it’s warm and toasty inside Café Montesol, so come on in, rock around the whimsical Christmas trees, and eat, drink and be merry!
