Springing into Easter – El Náutico Ibiza
The holiday season is finally here and this buzzing eatery in the heart of Ibiza’s port is open for lazy breakfasts, long lunches and luxe dinners.
As the first wave of 2026 holidaymakers start to arrive on the white isle this week, the streets of Ibiza town are buzzing with anticipation for all the action of Semana Santa (holy week) and the excitement of the new season ahead. The clocks have sprung forward; there are more hours of gorgeous sunshine in the day, and the scent of fresh paint and sunscreen float on the breeze – spring is officially here. Along with the arrival of warm sunny weather, direct flights, excited tourists and traditional street parades, Easter is also the time of year that coincides with the return to alfresco dining, and nowhere in the capital does it better than El Náutico Ibiza.
Between the ancient walls of the old town and the water’s edge, perched at the point where the port meets Ibiza town, El Náutico Ibiza opens its doors daily from 9am, offering one of the most scenic ways to begin another day in paradise. Tables offer front-row views of bobbing boats and passing ferries, with the distant backdrop of Dalt Vila majestically rising above it all. The vibes are like a beachside restaurant, yet you’re firmly entrenched in the hustle and bustle of town, where everything you could ever need is very much within easy reach. Shopping, strolling the promenade or ferry-hopping to Formentera – it’s all on El Náutico Ibiza’s doorstep.

Breakfast begins at a leisurely pace as your coffee arrives just how you like it, from classic café con leche to iced lattes and matcha, alongside fresh juices and lighter options for those easing themselves back to life after a frantic night of fun. Breakfast at El Náutico Ibiza is all about simple pleasures – think creamy Greek yoghurt with homemade granola and fresh fruit, avocado toast topped with eggs or crispy tostadas layered with fresh tomato, jamón, scrambled eggs or smoked salmon. Here, one coffee turns into two, plans are made ponderously and the day lies ahead bereft of even the slightest sense of urgency.
Once the morning crew have dispersed, El Náutico Ibiza tacitly shifts gears for a lunchtime service filled with delicious Spanish-inspired dishes and delectable drinks. From midday onwards, the sunny terrace fills with sun-seekers, fresh-off-the-water boat crews, visiting foodies and those who never made it much further than their morning libation – everyone (and their dog – literally) is welcomed like an old friend in this popular dining hotspot. On Saturdays and Sundays, parents love the in-house kids’ club, Little Náutic, where little guests are kept entertained with arts, crafts, games and activities in a safe, supervised space before being treated to a special children’s menu.

Plates are made for sharing (or not, depending on your mood) are deftly delivered to the tables, from crisp ensaladilla with prawns to lightly fried chipirones and anchovy-topped coca – all best enjoyed with a chilled glass in hand. For something more substantial, the kitchen – helmed by revered Spanish chef Pau Barba – serves up quintessential cuisine for long, lazy Ibiza lunches. Seafood takes centre stage, from fresh Formentera crayfish to fragrant clams and mussels, plus generous rice dishes and fideuá served directly from hot, steaming pans to your plate. Whether it’s a classic arroz del señoret (fish-only paella) or the more decadent blue lobster frothy rice, the afternoon slows down as conversations stretch and the idea of leaving becomes increasingly negotiable.
From here – and following the obligatory serving of El Nautico Ibiza’s signature Café Caleta – Ibiza town invites exploration and shopping calls like a siren from a retail rock. Wandering through the cobbled streets of Dalt Vila at sunset, browsing its tiny boutiques and coming home with a treasure trove of trinkets and souvenirs is like a post-prandial rite of passage for many visitors – the perfect way to end your daytime adventures.
Come golden hour, a new energy descends on El Náutico Ibiza. The same glorious waterfront views remain, now bathed in the ethereal light of sunset as the tables fill with cosmopolitan groups settling in for dinner. The evening menu focuses on traditional Mediterranean flavours and techniques, fused with a hefty dose of Ibicencan influences, made with local produce and served with love.
Roasted leeks with pear, roquefort and walnuts; plump and juicy red prawns grilled to perfection; and Andalusian-style baby squid set the tone as starters, alongside classic French onion soup; gratinated baby scallops drizzled in Hollandaise; or the ultra-fresh ensalada payesa served with house-smoked sardines. Another El Náutico Ibiza menu highlight is the locally made sausage, butifarra, served with white beans and wild mushrooms – a delight for the palate, grounded in flavour and provenance.

As the moon rises high in the onyx night sky, El Náutico Ibiza becomes a natural meeting point. Pre-dinner drinks turn into long meals; chatter flows and the glow of the port is reflected softly across the candlelit tables. Guests dine on an array of rice dishes – cuttlefish and squid fideuá; chicken and pork rib paella; vegetarian rice; seafood and fish paella; spaghetti with clams; and the beloved macaroni-based buillit de peix – or plates brimming with freshly caught fish from Ibiza. From unpretentious grilled sole and the crowd-fave, sea bass baked in salt and served at the table, to more elaborate preparations such as monkfish with shallots and creamed mushrooms or lobster parmentier, there’s something for everyone.
For those hankering for some truly hearty fare, there are also Ibizan classics like lobster with fried eggs and potatoes (one of Barba’s house specialties), plus expertly grilled meaty morsels such as the impressive Chateaubriand for two, beef cheek cannelloni with foie sauce, and a nostalgic estofado de ternera (beef stew) that harks back to the flavours of grandma’s kitchen. For Barba and his team, it’s all about simple feasting with a touch of refinement that makes every evening at El Náutico Ibiza feel special. As Semana Santa approaches, and with it the nightly crowds flocking to Ibiza town to watch the traditional processions, now’s the time to book your table to ensure you score the best seats in the house over the Easter holiday season.
