Before specialty coffee became part of Ibiza’s rhythm, a roasting machine was already humming behind the façade of an industrial warehouse on the road to San Juan. Founded in 2011 by New Zealand brothers Sam and Joe Swinburn alongside Patrick Kennedy, the brand was built on a shared vision of sustainability, flavour and integrity. That ethos still defines every cup poured at their buzzing café in Santa Eulalia, where Meke Coffee Roasters redefine what island mornings taste like.

The roastery quickly became the heart of the operation as Meke Coffee Roasters introduced a more conscious way of drinking coffee to the island. Built on transparency and ethical sourcing, the team proudly works closely with organic and fair trade growers in Ethiopia, Colombia, Costa Rica and beyond, selecting beans for both their flavour and farming practices. The result is a supply chain built on trust and respect, flowing seamlessly from distant farms to local cups at the popular Ibiza café.

Step inside the roastery and the magic begins. Meke Coffee Roasters transform the green beans, roasting them to unlock the complex layers of flavours hidden within. Natural sugars caramelise to reveal notes of dark chocolate, toasted nuts and delicate florals; each batch profiled to celebrate its origins. Visitors can watch the machines at work and purchase freshly roasted beans, from house blends and seasonal espressos to carefully selected single origins. That same care is palpable at the Ibiza café, where velvety blends have brought comfort and brightness to every sip since 2018.

Nestled in the pretty town centre of Santa Eulalia, Meke Coffee Roasters café feels welcoming and instinctively local. Here, conversations about the coffee’s origin and process happen naturally across the counter. Enter and you’re struck with the fragrance of freshly ground coffee that wraps around you while the gentle hum of grinders blend with the hum of street noise from outside. Smiles are abundant, knowledge is shared generously, and one espresso can easily turn into two.

At this Ibiza café, the menu mirrors that same thoughtful simplicity. Flaky croissants and delectable slices of cake sit alongside avocado toasts and wraps suits all appetites. Just like the ever-changing nature of the island, the café adapts to its climate. In winter, the space feels warm and grounding, a refuge scented with espresso. In summer, lighter roasts echo the island’s sunlit style, proving daily caffeine fixes at Meke Coffee Roasters can easily adapt to a year-round rhythm.

Beyond the tables of the Ibiza café, Meke Coffee Roasters continues to fuel island mornings in many forms. A curated range of grinders, cafetières, brewing equipment and professional espresso machines – including coveted La Marzocco models – can be snapped up for Ibiza homes. Freshly roasted beans are available to suit moka pots or filter setups, while their blends and single origins supply cafés, restaurants and events island-wide, including the long-running stand at the weekly San Juan artisan market on Sundays – a much-loved ritual stop for loyal regulars.

Regardless of where you sip your Meke brew, the story remains beautifully linear: from sustainable farms and the Santa Eulalia café to the San Juan roastery, each journey ends with cup in hand, exceptional coffee, the sun on your face and that unmistakable island perk.
