Amnesia Ibiza

Opened in 1976, Amnesia Ibiza is one of the original Ibiza super clubs. In those days, the San Rafael finca was a second home to the raft of hippies, bohemians and hedonists who’d arrived on the island in search of good times, offering the space and the soundtrack for a newfound sense of freedom to unfold. The music was exciting and always eclectic and paved the way for one of the white isle’s biggest exports, Alfredo, who became a regular at the club in the early 1980s and spearheaded the birth of Balearic Beat.

Renowned for effortlessly switching between genres, from disco to house and pop to rock, Alfredo laid the foundations for a distinctive white isle sound, securing a spot in the history books in the process. But that’s not all this Ibiza club is famous for. Amnesia Ibiza’s open-air terrace (before local authorities insisted a glass roof was built) was the site of wild parties that lasted for days, becoming the stuff of legend among locals and an international crowd. And its annual opening and closing fiestas are still famed for being some of the most stomp-worthy around.

Even now, it remains one of the most iconic dance floors on the island. If you’re not on the terrace at 6am in the morning —  sun streaming in from above, sunglasses perched on your nose —  then you’ve not yet had the full Ibiza experience. Meanwhile, the cavernous Main Room next door that’s perfect for nights of deep, immersive techno is equally as beloved. Flit between the two spaces for the ultimate Amnesia Ibiza adventure. Those seeking extra room to dance can upgrade, with tables on the upper levels of the Ibiza club reserved for VIP bookings.

This summer sees a slew of top names return to the Ibiza club. Sonny Fodera is back on Mondays, while king of cake Claptone and HE.SHE.THEY. take care of the Tuesday slot. On Wednesdays, Jamie Jones brings his popular Paradise party to Amnesia Ibiza; Thursdays are reserved for a Latin-inspired soundtrack at Bresh; and Fridays are all about techno titan Joseph Capriati. The weekend belongs to the confetti chaos of elrow on Saturdays and underground favourite Pyramid on Sundays. The crowd is as diverse as the lineups here, so don whatever you feel most comfortable in and buckle up for a ride.
