New stripes, same soul – Finca Legado Ibiza
This hidden gem of a holiday bolthole in Santa Eulalia unveils a playful summer refresh with bold design and a laid-back, easy vibe.
Finca Legado Ibiza has always had a strong sense of self. A little irreverent, a little cheeky, a little quirky, but always well dressed, and this season, the chic Ibiza boutique hotel is looking sharper than ever thanks to the renovation of its three poolside rooms. The new look leans into Riviera flair with bold stripes in green and turquoise. Nautical and nostalgic, the rooms evoke old-school seaside holidays with just a little touch of theatrical charm.
Pistachio-coloured beach baskets contain bright yellow towels. Stripy ceramic tumblers sit beside luxurious Be My Soap amenities in the bathrooms. The eclectic collection of art and objets at Finca Legado Ibiza has been subtly reshuffled and added to, each piece perfectly placed to give the hotel a little extra je ne sais quoi. Every lamp, mirror and oddly perfect side table belongs like a cool glass of lemonade on a hot summer’s day.

Finca Legado Ibiza is shaped, quite literally, by Andi Lackner and Andreas Oberkanins. Both Austrian by birth, but with definite – and defiant – Ibizan souls, this creative duo took possession of the neglected farmhouse back in 2017. With a whole lot of love and loads of chutzpah, they brought it back to life and opened it as a boutique bed and breakfast in 2018. Neither came from hospitality, but both brought a sharp eye, a love of Ibiza’s wild energy and a healthy disregard for rules. It was the perfect combination.
The couple are the consummate hosts, not only creating a host of welcoming spaces but also a beloved second home for their many returning guests. The pair know people come back to Finca Legado Ibiza for its easy, companionable rhythm, so changes come slowly and thoughtfully, over time, never disturbing the hotel’s signature ambience. The idea has always been about individuality, generosity, comfort and cool. The renovation of the pool rooms is less of a makeover and more of an update, designed to delight and encourage even more good cheer. Nothing is off-the-shelf. Lighting is soft and warm, beds are laid with quality linen, and there’s a sense of joy in the smallest details – even if it’s a sprig of wild fennel in a glass vase on the windowsill.

Outside, striped loungers line the saltwater pool. Bougainvillea spills over stone walls, and the scent of fig trees lingers in the sunshine. Guests drift between naps, novels and cold drinks, making pleasure-seeking seem like it’s an art form. Someone slips into the water with a gentle splash. Somewhere, a cork is pulled. The service at Finca Legado Ibiza remains as intuitive as ever. You’re greeted like an old friend, given space when you need it and conversation when you don’t. Coffee appears at exactly the right moment, and someone always seems to know when you need a second towel or a top-up of something cold and citrusy.
Every day starts with an exquisite breakfast – now a Finca Legado Ibiza ritual, steeped in a long history of farm-fresh eggs, delicate omelettes, homemade yoghurts and more. Tables are beautifully laid in the garden under lush greenery. Eggs, charcuterie, the boutique hotel’s very own homemade jams, seasonal fruits, cheeses and more are accompanied by the nutty aroma of freshly brewed espresso and the inquisitive nose of Gino, who can always be found seeking out the very best spot at a table.
One part dog, one part human, and all parts cute, Gino is part of the Finca Legado Ibiza family. As the hotel’s unofficial concierge, emotional support pooch and occasional footrest, he weaves between sunbeds, claiming shady corners and belly rubs when it suits him, and snubbing you when he’s ‘busy’. He keeps the resident kitty under strict control, watches out for crumbs that have the temerity to escape your plate, and generally keeps everything and everyone in order.
While Finca Legado Ibiza makes it very easy to stay put, its location opens up some of the island’s best spots for swimming, dining and dancing. Santa Eulalia is just down the road, with its pretty promenade, marina and a growing list of excellent restaurants. Ibiza town is a 15-minute drive away if you’re after boutiques, eating or a nightcap (or a dance!) somewhere buzzy. If you’re in the mood for the beach, head east to Cala Nova or Ibiza for its easy, companionable rhythm, venture south to the golden stretch of Las Salinas or north to Benirrás and a plethora of pretty coves.

On an island that changes with the tides, Finca Legado Ibiza remains a reliable staple – a place to stretch out, switch off and melt into total relaxation. In the early evening, the pool shimmers. Music hums. Guests gather beneath trees bathed in moonlight. Just when you think the scene is set, someone wheels out a vintage drinks trolley or lights a candle in a stone niche and suddenly you’re a Hollywood starlet in a movie of your own making. Finca Legado Ibiza may have new stripes, but its heart still beats the same. Come for the design, stay for the mood, and let Gino decide whether you’re worthy of a nuzzle.
