Home for the holidays at Locals Only
It’s the most wonderful time of the year for restaurateur Tito Piazza of Ibiza restaurant Locals Only, as he prepares to host islanders and citizens of the world for festive feasts over the holiday season.
Operating with the savvy mindset of both a chef and restaurateur is Locals Only founder and host with the most, Tito Piazza.
December is the most wonderful time of the year in Plaza del Parque, when the festive lights are switched on, the vintage carousel starts spinning, the churros are churned out day and night and families and friends come together beneath the glow of the streetlamps, stars and moon to celebrate the holidays. This season, restaurateur Tito Piazza – founder of beloved Ibiza town restaurant Locals Only – gives islanders and visiting citizens of the world even more reasons to visit this bustling square, from ever-changing daily pre-fixe menus and an evening happy hour to delicious holiday menus that are ideal for end-of-year lunches and dinners. There’s also an impressive wine menu featuring some of the world’s best natural wines plus this year’s Beaujolais Nouveau and an open invitation to forget about cooking and washing up on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, when the restaurant becomes your home away from home for the holidays!
Celebrating its 10-year milestone in 2024, Locals Only is a mainstay when it comes to dining in Ibiza town, so the news that Tito has extended the season (due to popular demand!) to cover the holiday period has been welcomed by Ibiza dwellers. Now, sunny lunchtimes in the square can be enjoyed over a three-course pre-fix menu for just 17€ – choose from four ultra-fresh options for both starter and main, always including a risotto, a pasta, a meat and a fish dish, plus a homemade dessert and coffee. Stick around after lunch and make the most of happy hour between 6pm and 7pm, when you can order beer, wine and mojitos at a very festive two-for-one price tag – also perfect before or after your Christmas shopping in town.
Lunch is served between 12.30pm and 4.30pm from Tuesday to Sunday, while dinner is available between 7pm and 11pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The accessibly priced Locals Only à la carte menu is a testament to Tito’s culinary prowess, with some of the dishes so popular they’ve been on the menu almost as long as the Ibiza restaurant has been open. Just a few of the highlights include fresh grilled calamari with lime and jalapeño vinaigrette; the oversized (as the name suggests) and addictive Elephant’s Ear Iberico pork chop Milanese; the true-to-Tito’s-Italian-roots cacio y pepe; and the bestselling fettucine with fresh tomato, sausage and local rosemary – comfort food at its finest.
Although you’ll always find him front-of-house, Tito operates his business with the savvy mindset of both a chef and a restaurateur. Always on the search for the finest, freshest produce, sourced locally where possible, or as close to home (when not sourced in Ibiza, meat and fish come direct from Barcelona or Galicia), his menus are a seasonal showcase, and the holiday period is no different. New for 2024 are the two holiday menus (that include water and soft drinks) designed for family or corporate get-togethers – the perfect feasts to share around the table. For 29€ per person, start with devils on horseback, beetroot salad and pimientos de padrón, then choose from the Locals Only classics such as the salmon filet with wasabi, soy and mustard mayo; rigatoni alla Siciliana with eggplant and salted ricotta or the succulent chicken leg ‘al Mattone’, grilled to perfection beneath a brick, then finish with a fluffy tiramisu.
For 39€ per person, share starters such as fried langoustines with zucchini and the house tartare sauce; mixed legume salad; the melt-in-your-mouth baked eggplant parmigiana and the Ibiza-inspired tostadita de sobrasada with Ses Cabretes goat cheese and local honey. For mains, opt for local pumpkin and cream of gorgonzola risotto; roast pork shank in jus or the delectable fillet of branzino, seared with capers and lemon, all served with truffled mashed potato. Just be sure to leave room for the Locals Only flourless chocolate cake dessert!
Locals Only is open throughout the festive season, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with special holiday menus available.
December often whizzes by in a flurry of socialising, Christmas shopping and end-of-year admin, which means by the time Christmas rolls around, the last thing you feel like is cooking. Instead, book a table at Locals Only and indulge in the special Christmas Menu – available on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Start with the ‘good luck’ amuse bouche of house lentils, followed by a choice of langoustines wrapped in crispy pancetta with cream of white beans, or spinach and ricotta cannelloni with smoked Scamorza. For mains, choose between the amazing roast lamb shoulder with chestnuts and pumpkin or the classic seared branzino with lemon, capers and garlic sauteed chard. It wouldn’t be Christmas without a hefty serving of Panettone with marscapone cream for dessert – alongside a shot of the house-made cherry grappa.
For anyone hosting friends and family at home over the holidays, there’s a little-known secret weapon when it comes time to dine, and that’s having your Locals Only menus home delivered. Simply let Tito know your numbers and choices ahead of time, and you can either pop past and collect, or have it driven direct to your door. You can also order from the wine list (which boasts the RAISIN stamp of approval) and receive 10% off the menu prices, or 15% off if you order more than two bottles – you can even get your very own panettone. Whether you tell your guests you cooked the feast or let them know your secret, well, that’s up to you! After the main event, Locals Only is open for recovery lunches and dinners on Boxing Day, before its last day of service for 2024 on December 27. Only then, Tito and his team – like the true citizens of the world they are – can take off on their global adventures, collecting stories, memories, recipes and more before returning to the island in spring of 2025.
