Alioli Design
Husband-and-wife design duo Sandra Garest and Juan Pradillo are behind Alioli Design, a full-service Ibiza architecture studio that takes clients on a seamless and stress-free journey from planning and permits to the final flourishes of interior design and décor.
Ibiza-based architects and designers Sandra Garest and Juan Pradillo treat architecture and interiors as a single discipline. Their one-stop boutique studio, Alioli Design, is built around the idea that one team should see a home through from the very first sketch to the finishing touches. Staying small and hands-on is intentional; clients deal directly with both partners for the duration of their project, and Alioli 360 brings real estate, urban planning, legalisation, technical projects, permits and construction under one roof.
The husband-and-wife duo met while studying architecture in Madrid and share a love for Ibiza that goes back generations. Juan has spent almost every summer on the west coast – his grandfather, now 93, first arrived aged 17 – while Sandra has visited the white isle since childhood. The island’s vernacular architecture has long inspired them, with echoes of its aesthetic appearing in many Alioli Design projects in Spain and abroad.
Sandra and Juan cut their teeth at separate practices on the mainland, working on everything from large hotel builds to 180-home residential developments, and collaborating on private commissions when the chance arose. The pandemic gave them the push to go independent, and after running a first studio in Madrid, they founded Alioli Design in 2023. A year later they relocated to Ibiza, the place they both consider their spiritual home. Today they run their Ibiza architecture studio from Cala Tarida, where Juan leads on the technical side, from construction to site supervision, while Sandra works across interiors and detailing, creating stunning island homes designed to be lived in.
Each Alioli Design project begins with two elements: the place and the people. First conversations about how clients live – from their daily routines and whether there are children or pets, to their likes and dislikes – happen long before any plans are drawn up. This tailored approach to Ibiza architecture means no two homes are alike, yet the beauty and simplicity of the Mediterranean runs through all of them. Natural materials, clean lines, wood and micro-cement are favoured; light is treated as a material; and terraces, courtyards and shade are shaped by the surrounding landscape.
Sustainability is also built into every Alioli Design home, with respect to the island’s limited resources. Passive strategies cut demand first, then solar energy, rainwater collection and water reuse follow, drawing on climate lessons learned from traditional Ibicenco architecture. BIM modelling lets clients explore each option in 3D and allows the studio to accurately plan costs and catch any technical clashes early on, meaning the creative process is stress-free and construction runs smoothly.
Alioli Design have become go-to Ibiza architects for a wide mix of clients, from locals restoring traditional fincas to international second-home owners, developers and investors. Renovation is a particular strength: the studio favours reworking existing buildings over defaulting to new construction. Whatever the project, clients always have the same two designers beside them, from the first idea-filled meeting to the final handover.
