Day-to-night magic at Playa Soleil
Where Ibiza’s most beloved ritual, the tardeo, meets sun-drenched dining, afternoon beats and after-dark magic on the shores of Playa d’en Bossa.
Spain has gifted the world many wonderful rituals such as serving a snack with drinks (pintxo) and taking an afternoon nap (siesta), to name two. In Ibiza however, one of the most beloved Spanish rituals is the tardeo. The word is a portmanteau of tarde (afternoon) and tapeo (the art of eating tapas) and basically means finding a sunny spot to drink, eat and see where the afternoon takes you. On the sunny south coast of the island, there’s no better place to enjoy this tradition than Playa Soleil Ibiza. Located on the golden shores of Playa d’en Bossa, this slice of island heaven ingeniously splits the day into perfect halves: SUNDANCE and MOONDANCE.

Harking back to the days of sun-dappled dancing and loved-up starlit nights, Playa Soleil Ibiza is the ultimate Ibiza beach club experience. There’s a touch of Tulum in the décor, combined with a splash of international jet set chic and a dash of old-school Ibiza bohemian flair. Whether you’re with a large group of friends, travelling as a duo, or if you’re an independent solo traveller, the best way to start your tardeo at Playa Soleil is to book a luxurious sunbed shaded by a palm frond parasol or a stylish dining table beneath the canvas sails of the restaurant terrace and immerse yourself in the SUNDANCE.
By day at Playa Soleil Ibiza, guests can indulge in icy cold cocktails, freshly shaken or stirred, complemented with platters of sushi and sashimi, fresh oysters, a succulent Wagyu Katsu sandwich or a bowl of the beach club’s famous patatas bravas. Spanish classics like anchovy on brioche, local prawns grilled to perfection, broken eggs with Royal caviar and an array of mouth-watering paellas are also on offer to tantalise the tastebuds. Between sips and bites, feel free to meander down to the sea for a refreshing dip, then return to home base – it’s all part of the tardeo experience.

SUNDANCE is a celebration of Ibiza’s unique light and natural beauty, accessorised with a superb soundtrack, in true Playa Soleil Ibiza style. Resident DJs like Jazz Becker and Cristian de Rosa set the tone with a rotation of afro beats perfect for summer afternoons. Tuesdays are reserved for RAÍCES by Spanish duo Les Castizos, who take you on a journey back to the essentials. Their sets are an eclectic fusion of house, electro, techno and the unexpected, building a playful and gloriously spontaneous mood. As the blues of the sea kiss the shoreline and champagne flows between friends, it’s almost impossible to keep still and soon, everyone in the beach club is barefoot and dancing in the sand.
The beauty of tardeo is the way it slips seamlessly into night. The sky fills with pinks as the sun makes its way across to the western skies, before the moon rising over the Mediterranean illuminates the beach club in an ethereal glow. MOONDANCE is the other side to the Playa Soleil Ibiza magic spell, where haute cuisine meets avant-garde soundscapes on a nightly basis. Dinner naturally starts with cocktails and any number of delicious morsels from the raw bar, followed by the Spanish favourite of lobster with egg and potatoes, juicy chargrilled Black Angus rib or wild-caught sea bass. Wash it all down with wine or bubbles while DJs spin an irresistible soundtrack and get ready to see where the night takes you.
The heart of this stunning Ibiza beach club houses its most sacred area: a temple dedicated to dance – perhaps the most time-honoured Ibiza ritual of all. Starting at 6pm and continuing until the early hours, big-name DJs bring the beats to Playa Soleil Ibiza, while partygoers bring the buzz and this summer’s line-ups give you plenty of reasons to let your tardeo continue well into the night. For the third consecutive season, Sunday nights are home to All I Need, the end-of-week soirée, headed up by ANTS main man Andrea Oliva and Unreleased labelmate Arodes, that features some of the best names in electronic music as special guests.
In an exciting move for the intimate Ibiza beach club, Ibiza’s iconic La Troya bursts into Playa Soleil for the very first time, in an electric stream of colour, chaos and freedom, taking up residence on Wednesday nights from June 04. The self-described ‘mother of all parties’ promises to be lounder, bolder and wilder than ever before (if that’s even possible) in its new seaside home, honouring the legacy of founder Brasilio and welcoming the LGBTQI+ community and allies to unite beneath the blaze of red club lights each week. Save a dance for Thursdays too, when Bâzâr by Sasson – curated by renowned DJ and producer Nicolas Sasson – brings a touch of Parisian chic and a hypnotic blend of afro and deep house rhythms to Playa Soleil Ibiza.

Whether you’re deep on the dancefloor, up close and personal with the DJs in the booth, or are relishing your private space in one of the mezzanine or dancefloor VIP areas, a night at Playa Soleil Ibiza is one you’ll never forget. Come for tardeo, stay for dinner and linger way past the sunset and dance your way into the early morning hours – from the very first sip to the last beat, you just never quite know where the adventure will lead. And that’s all part of the fun.
