Ibiza Town
La Esquina
True to the English translation of La Esquina, this hip bar resides on a corner in the centre of Ibiza town.
It’s situated at the base of the ancient, cobbled rampart leading up to Dalt Vila, and is always a hive of activity thanks to the constant footfall of visitors keen to soak up a slice of Ibiza’s rich history.
Owned by the team behind the famed La Bodega – who know a thing or two about what their clients want after many years of success right next door – a few tables are scattered on the pathway outside, which are fantastic for absorbing the lively atmosphere on busy, balmy nights. Inside, it’s all authentic brushed brick, stainless steel and sparkly, low-hanging lamps that set a romantic scene once night falls.
The bar doubles as a mezcaleria, so novices can take the opportunity to taste the typical Mexican spirit while experts can revel in the breadth of choice – though you should still always ask Tomas or Guille, the charismatic barmen, their advice on this. On the cocktail side, there’s something for a sweet and savoury tooth too, and it’s worth noting these guys like their shots – be prepared to down one, whatever the time of day.
