As wedding and events season heats up in Ibiza, our team had an exclusive sneak peek inside the incredible warehouse curated by the island’s number one styling and décor hire agency.

Here in Ibiza, it’s not just the weather that’s hotting up right now – it’s also peak season for weddings and special events. That means, that after months of preparation and some military-like organisation, the island’s wedding planners, concierges, photographers, caterers, florists, DJs, cake artists, vendors and suppliers are busy dashing all over the island to help couples bring their wedding visions to life. And there’s no one, perhaps, more in the thick of it than the talented team from Velvet Circus Ibiza – Ibiza’s premier wedding and event styling and décor hire agency.

Chances are, if, while at an Ibiza wedding, you’ve admired a pretty place setting, adored a unique chandelier, sought shade beneath a perfectly placed parasol, marvelled at sparkling lights illuminating a venue, well – you’ve probably already experienced the magic of this team of talented stylists. For those who haven’t, but who want a sneak peek into the wonderful, whimsical, sophisticated and sparkling world of Velvet Circus Ibiza, it’s never too late. The team recently threw open their cavernous warehouse doors for a special showcase event, bringing together the who’s who of the island wedding industry before the seasonal madness began.

“It was a beautiful way to catch up with everyone before the summer got into full swing,” says Velvet Circus Ibiza founder Danielle Hodgson-Lindley of the event. “Instead of styling a venue for a themed event, it also gave us the opportunity to transform our warehouse into a space where we could showcase lots of different things – our rental collections as well as our styling options. Doing an event this way showed that you don’t always have to stick to one particular style, and how we can set up a variety of different areas across a venue – there was something new around every corner.”

Teaming up with regular event collaborators, The Bar Ibiza (the mobile bar and beverage service launched by Danielle’s husband, James Lindley, 20 years ago) and their catering cohorts at La Grande Bouffe, Danielle and her team spent five days transforming their storage space – normally impeccably organised of course, but not usually decked in swathes of fabric, surrounded by gorgeous florals and set up to serve food and drinks – into a cornucopia of colour and style. “I cannot thank my team, Hannah, Josie and Matt enough,” says Danielle. “The amount of effort and love they put into creating this open day was exactly the same as they do for our clients’ events.”

Guests – a mix of wedding planners (and some of their clients), hotel owners, concierges, villa managers and other key wedding industry players – were greeted with bespoke cocktails and non-alcoholic creations shaken and stirred by The Bar Ibiza’s expert mixologists (the White Ibiza team were particularly fond of The Green Echo!) at the stunning, fabric-and-flower clad entrance, before being invited to step beyond the curtains and explore the world of Velvet Circus Ibiza. “We have so many beautiful things normally packed away in storage here,” continues Danielle. “It was so fun to clear the shelves and create gorgeous little curiosity pods to showcase it all in such a relaxed environment – we never usually get the chance to see everything unpacked all at once.”

Each aisle, space, room and corner of the Velvet Circus Ibiza studio was completely transformed. The entry hall featured one of The Bar Ibiza’s new stylish green bars at the end, dotted with garden furniture, with video art being projected on walls that had been draped in cream fabrics. Incredible, sculptural floral arrangements by Aurea Floral Studio dotted the tables, complementing gorgeous glassware and tall stacks of White Ibiza Magazine – The Wedding Edition. In fact, the event’s guestlist was very much like bringing the magazine to life, so many of the suppliers and characters featured were in attendance!

The first aisle was a serene, minimalist vision in white, with sheer swathes of fabrics blowing in the breeze – reminiscent of a bride’s veil – subtly revealing collections of vintage-style chandeliers, crystal candelabras and more. The second aisle took a turn for the slightly more dramatic, with thick red velvet fabric draped from the ceiling to the back-and-white chequered floor (giving just a hint of Twin Peaks chic), while clusters of disco balls cast refractions of light throughout the space. More table settings, vases, candleholders and other types of décor cheekily peeked out of the pods, unveiling something new and exciting with each new step. Rooms, walls and even outdoor areas lined with lush fabrics like this are a major trend in events this year – in any colour, texture, pattern and even weight you might want, Velvet Circus Ibiza can source it. “We wanted to show how you can create a real party vibe,” says Danielle. “The two aisles were polar opposites – tranquil in the front, party in the back.”

Once through the aisles, guests stepped into Velvet Circus Ibiza’s table trial room, where the walls were lined with shelves displaying all kinds of tableware, stationery, invitation design inspiration, an array of candles, while a stunning table down the centre of the room was decorated in a gorgeous vintage-inspired tablescape and an elegant drinks cart stood at the end of the room. “This is exactly what the experience is like for our clients when they come to the studio for their first face-to-face trial,” explains Danielle of the experience. “On the walls, we’d set up a lot of moodboards – the kinds clients see online earlier in the proposal – and then we added textures, fabric samples, paper, linens, fringing and much more to bring it to life the way, just we do when clients come along with their planners, to get a real feel for it.” Additionally, La Grande Bouffe created the perfect, edible accompaniments to Velvet Circus’s green-hued tablescapes (“I’m so drawn to greens this year,” Danielle explains) – platters of delectable jelly squares flavoured in matcha and mango – an ultra-modern twist on the 1970s jelly moulds.

The entire affair was relaxed, fun and of course, incredibly stunning, as a revolving door of guests popped in and out all afternoon. “It was so amazing,” reflects Danielle. “It’s something we’ll do every year in the warehouse, to showcase the new stock we source over our winter buying trips in Paris. I already have ideas for some new themes we can do. I was so sad when it was over and we had to pack everything away. I’d love to keep it out and displayed like this but logistically, when we’re in the thick of events season and constantly working with rental furnishings and decor, it’s just not possible or convenient for the team. So, it’s nice to know we can do it again – and it’s also nice to know we’ll get another real chance to connect with all of our collaborators next season, before everything really kicks off. We all get along so well in this industry, so it’s nice to spend time together when we’re not actually working!”
