Secrets are curious things; they pull you in, have a way of making you feel chosen, and – if they are worth keeping – they very rarely disappoint. Such is the case with Can Secret, the all-new Ibiza fine dining restaurant nestled within Agroturismo Safragell in San Lorenzo, in the island’s north. Tucked away off the main ‘restaurant road’, but close to the hotel’s original finca (which dates back multiple generations) amid 29 hectares of abundant olive groves and fruit orchards, it is just far enough from the beaten track to make you feel like you have rediscovered the authentic side of Ibiza fine dining entirely by accident.

The concept behind Can Secret is deliciously straightforward: cuina amb ànima – cooking with soul. Born from a love of the island’s rich culinary heritage, this Ibiza fine dining restaurant sings with the romance of its northern roots: rich, green and just a little bit wild. With a capacity for 80 diners and the potential to host events for up to 270 people, it is a dreamy setting for private celebrations, weddings and retreats, and the perfect location for group dinners and date nights.

Enticingly understated, Can Secret boasts interiors that feel warm and welcoming, where the rolling hills of San Lorenzo, glimpsed through floor-to-ceiling glass doors, are all the decoration needed. Covered outdoor terraces open onto extravagant gardens that flow into the distant skyline, where the shaded pergola is the real star of the alfresco show. Sheltered from the elements yet flooded with natural light, it shifts in mood from sun-filled lunches to atmospheric nights.

The menu at Can Secret pays homage to its Ibicenco roots – sprinkled with Mediterranean touches and a hint of global flair – resulting in dishes that reflect the land on which this Ibiza fine dining restaurant sits. Here, velvety extra-virgin olive oil is the hero of the hour, as single varieties are paired with specific dishes rather than simply drizzled on as a final flourish. Inclusion and integrity are everything; almost half the menu is vegetarian or vegan-friendly, ingredients are locally sourced wherever possible, often being plucked from the finca’s own farm, and an impressive 90% of dishes are gluten-free.

Start your epicurean adventure at Can Secret with bites of steak tartare with green mojo and low-temperature egg yolk; plates of Iberian ham with cristal bread and grated tomato, or a classic Spanish cheeseboard. For mains, the menu is divided geographically: From The Sea (try the wild corvina with miso and soy), From The Garden (the island’s most impressive selection of salads), From The Pasture, where meatier morsels like beef cheek in a sticky red wine reduction with pumpkin and coconut purée vie for attention with a one-kilogram bone-in rib-eye; or a payes chicken supreme. From Around The World includes global nods like noodles with bluefin tuna and miso Hollandaise, or artichoke lasagna, proving there really is something for everyone at Can Secret.

Desserts are also worth leaving room for and include a refreshing fruit ceviche with vegan tiger’s milk or sumptuous chocolate, tahini and miso ganache with mascarpone and pear. Some secrets are just not meant to be kept, and when it comes to Ibiza fine dining, Can Secret at Agroturismo Safragell is one that you simply won’t be able to keep to yourself.
