Minami Katai at Minami Japanese Restaurant
On Tuesday September 16, 2025, Minami Japanese Restaurant hosts the second edition of its ronqueo (whole tuna cutting) spectacle, Minami Katai, this time staged at Up Ibiza Sky Society on the rooftop of The Unexpected Ibiza Hotel before dinner. The traditional tuna carving ceremony – which begins at 7pm – isn’t for the faint-hearted, but it definitely creates a dramatic prelude to an evening steeped in Japanese culinary heritage.
Once the chef’s knives are down, the focus shifts to the table with a four-course menu built around the freshest cuts, paired with refined accompaniments in true omakase style and served from 8.30pm. Dishes include tuna and beet toast with chipotle mayo; a spoon of spinal meat; a creamy tuna croqueta; and the sashimi trilogy of akami, chutoro and toro; tataki with ponzu sauce; urumaki with goat cheese, foie gras and eel sauce and much, much more. At 90€ per person (excluding drinks), it’s a rare chance to see craft and theatre collide before settling into a meal that balances precision with flavour.
