Every Sunday, the sleepy village square of San Juan comes to life as the famous Artisan Market takes over the streets, lanes and corners from 10am until 4pm, drawing locals, island families and curious visitors up into the north of the island. Stalls feature handmade crafts, natural products, jewellery, crystals, vintage pieces, hand-stitched fashion, homemade treats and kitchen-table creations from a community of artisans who have been holding court on Sundays in San Juan for years.
The atmosphere is bohemian, musical and wonderfully unhurried as live musicians set up in the main village square, friends linger over coffees, kids weave between stalls and the whole village feels like one long family get-together, all year round.
