The meticulously restored Teatro Pereyra, nestled beneath the historic walls of Dalt Vila, is fully in the festive spirit this season and from 7pm on Sunday December 22, 2024, the theatre presents the second concert in its Pereyra Classics Cycle – the Christmas Concert. This exceptional performance brings together a distinguished quartet, with Rafael Adobas on baroque flute, Federico Cuevas playing the natural horn, Carlos Vesperinas on cello, and Llorenç Prats with the harpsichord.
The program promises a blend of Baroque masterpieces, featuring Bach’s Sonata for Flute and Continuo in E minor BWV 1034 and excerpts from his renowned Christmas Oratorio BWV 248 followed by Telemann’s lively Concerto for Flute, Horn and Continuo. After intermission, the festive mood continues with Braun’s Suite in B minor for solo flute, before Haydn’s brilliant Horn Concerto No. 2 in D major fills the air. The concert culminates in Bach’s poignant Jesus Bleibet Meine Freude, a perfect mix of Baroque grandeur and Christmas warmth.
